I help struggling stressed out couples reduce conflict, rebuild trust, find solutions and reconnect emotionally. By providing a judgement free place to learn specific scientific techniques for safe communication, and healing past wounds by gaining a deeper understanding of who your partner is and what they need.
Counseling for couples and families can address relationship issues and a wide range of serious clinical problems.
Having been a therapist for three decades, I am happy to do individual therapy. The problem with individual therapy however is that it is all about you. That’s great if you are single but if you are in a relationship, individual therapy often does not consider the impact ON the relationship.
If I see you alone it’s likely that you will go home and your spouse will ask ‘how was your session’, you’ll say ‘fine’ and that will most likely be the end of your conversation. Hopefully you will be looking at things differently and making some behavioral changes that your spouse, knowing nothing about might unintentionally sabotage. That’s why if you come to me for individual therapy, we might discuss inviting your spouse in to be a partner in your healing. In the end, this is a decision you and I will make together with meeting your needs for treatment being the priority.
There are often situations that involve other family members such as parents, in laws, children other relatives or even close friends. You are always welcome to bring any of these people into your session. If I see you as a couple, you must both agree to bring in other family members.
